This project is rolling out the Midlands Language utilisation project which was developed as part of PMI2 2007-09 to another four regions: north-east, south-west, London and the south-east, and Scotland.
The project involves working with five institutions in each region to develop part-time employment opportunities which utilise international students' language expertise, approximately 15 SME participants per institution, generating at least two vacancies each.
The objectives of the project are to:
introduce international students to the UK employment sector;
enhance international students' confidence and opportunties in the UK employment sector, particularly for those wishing to stay here after completing their course;
enhance the competitiveness of UK businesses in international markets and work with SMEs that wish to explore international markets but lack the language and cultural expertise to do so;
enable UK businesses in another four regions to recognise the benefits to be gained by employing international students, and increase the likelihood that they will employ international graduates.
The final project report is now available.
