This is a national competition to identify the International Student Employee of the Year with local and regional winners identified and the overall national winner announced at an Awards Ceremony at the annual NASES conference in July.
It was successfully launched in 2008 and repeated in 2009 and 2010.
The objectives of the project are to:
- encourage international students to aspire to winning the award;
- promote and enhance international students' reputation as good employees;
- promote and enhance the reputation of employers of international students as good employers;
- improve employer awareness of international students' capabilities in the part-time job sector and beyond.
The International Student Employee of the Year Award 2010, funded by PMI2, has just been awarded. The award aims to recognise and promote the contributions and achievements of international students who combine part-time work with their study commitments. This year’s winner was Saskia Wischnewski studying marine biology at the University of Aberdeen, who works part-time as a hotel receptionist at a Premier Inn.
“Saskia is an absolute credit to her university and for us, and shows us the behaviours that as a company we live by. The best character Saskia has is undoubtedly her attitude to life and our guests and team members. She has a very positive outlook in life and is always interested in other people whether guests or team members. This has without question given her a great advantage in life but more so in reception where she works.” Manager, Premier Inn
