► TAKE A LOOK INSIDE

University of Salford

Please note: the pmi2 project and its results were time bound and the advice and information may now be out of date. Please view these pages as archive only. For up to date information on dealing with international students please visit the UKCISA and UKBA websites.

This project used a number of ways to reach international alumni; through the new “alumni net” and other existing social networks such as LinkedIn, as well as meeting people at events internationally. This helped generate leads for case studies as well as information about specific employers recruiting our international alumni and helped consolidate and develop this work to be of further benefit to a wider audience.

The team aimed to develop the existing case study material and pilot the transfer of the activity across undergraduate groups but with a focus on our postgraduate alumni community. Many postgraduates come to the university with an existing professional career and would have a lot to offer other students in reflecting on their professional experiences after they have finished their studies. In scoping the project the team looked at existing good practice in the development of “career story” resources eg the Vitae researcher community gathered career stories (opens in a new window).
