► TAKE A LOOK INSIDE

University of the West of England

Please note: the pmi2 project and its results were time bound and the advice and information may now be out of date. Please view these pages as archive only. For up to date information on dealing with international students please visit the UKCISA and UKBA websites.

The University of the West of England, Bristol Careers Service is very keen to develop resources and expertise to help its Malaysian students and graduates.

Malaysia was chosen as the project’s country of focus for several reasons:

  • it is the country with the largest number of international students at UWE;
  • Malaysia is among the countries with the strongest links with the university;
  • in April 2010, UWE held its first graduation ceremony in Malaysia for its partner institutions
  • several graduates at the event expressed an interest in establishing a more structured/formal alumni network. An alumni society was introduced subsequently with president and vice-president roles put in place to oversee its development;
  • UWE Careers had already established a range of careers work for its Malaysian students e.g. preparing them for and taking them to the annual UKEC-Graduan Fair in London;
  • the department was keen to enhance the range of advice and information provided.

The final project report is available to read now.
