International Alumni career success stories can have a strong positive impact. They can inform and inspire both prospective and existing international students about post study opportunities and pathways. Cardiff International Alumni success stories can highlight the contribution of the Cardiff factor to the career and personal development of its international alumni. This in turn can enhance the profile and positioning of the Cardiff brand nationally and globally.
The careers service at Cardiff University collaborated with colleagues from the Alumni and International Offices to launch the Rising Stars project. We decided to tap into the career stories of Cardiff International Alumni by launching the Rising Stars letter writing competition. They were set a challenge to write a letter detailing their career journey since graduating from Cardiff. Twenty two entries were received and 13 of these were awarded cash prizes following submission of an individual case study and participation in a LinkedIn Careers Networking Group.
